Tomahawk Knives: Know The Basic Concepts

Have you bought a tomahawk knife and unsure how to use it? Worry not!  Most people are unaware as the knife looks different, unlike the regular knives. If you want to know how to hold it to attack, it’s pretty simple. Read on to understand the basic concepts of the knife.

Grip

To use a legal knife in the UK, it is important to understand how to grip it. Take a grip like that of a hammer as if you are trying to chop wood or hit a nail using a hatchet. Leave a gap of one or two inches towards the base for best strikes. During closest quarters when the wide swings seem nothing but a liability, move your hand a bit higher on the knife handle to get  good head control for defensive purposes. Avoid doing any more changes with the grip as it’s not a good idea to change grips or hands when you are protecting yourself from an attack. It may be dangerous as you may lose grip and the attacker succeeds to attack or kill you.

Mobility

Place your legs wider and you will have less mobility. Similarly, place them narrower, there will be an improper balance. Therefore, keep one foot flat to remain stable and other heel light for movement. Place yourself on the outer line of the opponent with a false-lead or true-lead position.

Position

This way, you can assess the position of the opponent and move closer towards their outside of the front arm. There is no scope for your opponent to assault you easily. The biggest advantage of this tool is that it hooks and controls heads, limbs, weapons, and torsos while causing harm. Follow this practice for openings for your counter attacks and to distract the balance of the opponent and disarm them.

Many good instructors are available to guide you on how to use the knife effectively. However, ensure that they have good knowledge, experience and coaching techniques. It’s needless to say that the tomahawk axe in the UK is the most favourite tool and weapon for warriors for many centuries and it can be a part of your survival kit as well.
